Mother and Son Night

Jake's elementary school had a mother and son night with a magician.

This is the ONLY picture Jake would let me take of the whole night.

I asked him while we were waiting for the show to start if I could take a picture.

"No."

He was SO WORRIED that I would embarrass him

Come on, am I really that embarrassing?

I resisted the urge to put my arm around him, and to pick the earwax out of his ear. (I was *this close* to doing it too.  Caught myself mid-reach.  Disaster averted.)  I think I did pretty well.

One of his friends came up and said "hi."

When he walked away and I simply asked, "Who was that?" Jake answered, "Mom, don't embarrass me."

What?

A few days later at Sunday dinner we were all talking about it and Jake finally confessed:

"I was just so worried that mom was gonna call me 'Jakey-bugs' or start singing really loud like she always does."
