We sat down to try to figure out how we could make things work financially, and realized that things simply weren't going to work. So, one month later we were making our way back to Utah. While we would have loved the experience of living in New York for three years, what we got in return was infinitely better. Nine months later, on my birthday, we got Josh, and honestly, as I sit here and try to describe what it is about Josh that makes him so great, I can't even do it, because he really defies description. I love the story about New York because, from day 1, he has changed and disrupted our lives for the better. Some things that make Josh Josh are:
- His complete unwillingess to accept anything just because you say so. He has to know the reason for everything, and is so analytical that I sometimes worry about him;
- His quick argument style. You almost want to argue with him about things because you want to hear what will come out of his mouth. He has given us so many gems over the years that we started writing them all down in a notebook;
- His intense focus. When he is in the zone, he doesn't hear a word anyone says. Amy is especially fond of this one;
- His sweet side. He is the most thoughtful and sweet of all of our kids.
There are many more things I could add, but, for anyone who knows him, you know that there really is no good way to describe him--he is just Josh. We love you Josh; happy birthday. You are the best.
