The Other Side

Now that some of you have read about the good things Josh does, I need to fill you in on Josh's other side, lest you or I mistakenly start to think I am actually doing a good job as a mother.

Josh was sent to the hallway during school today and told he had to write down reasons why he should be let back into the classroom. Apparently, while the kids were walking to and from different classes, one of the girls picked Josh up and tried to put him in the girls bathroom and he screamed bloody murder (just like a girl, ironically--I know this because Jake said his entire class heard it from way down the hall and the teacher had to shut the door). This all culminated after Josh's teacher had given him several warnings to "settle down".

I was mortified, but only after I laughed hysterically for 10 minutes. Does anyone else think it's hilarious that a girl picked him up! He was punished, however, and pretty severely. Another reason I was so hysterical was because this was Josh's argument when I got mad:

"Oh, so you just expect me to be absolutely perfect don't you? What, do you just think I can pick up a guitar and start playing automatically? I'm just average mom." (...no, I don't know what the guitar had to do with anything.)

Someone please help me through this obnoxious ten-year-old boy phase. I don't know what I am doing.

I am DREADING parent/teacher conference next week.

By the way, the reasons Josh gave for going back to class were: "I promise I will calm down" and " I need to get my work done."

Why was he sent into the half in the first place? What did you do in class? Teach Josh how to go Wayne if a girl tries that again

I still love him! I think he is hilarious...but as his mother I might get a little frustrated sometimes :)

That is hilarious! No you are not average Josh. What 10 year old kid gives that analogy with the guitar. It was good though, makes sense. I want to be there hiding and just listen when these kids get in trouble

I can just hear him saying that!

I am laughing hysterically. First for picturing him screaming bloody murder and second for the guitar thing. No one is more clever and as funny as that boy!!!

That was dang funny. Thats seriously the best argument I've ever heard. Jeff should use that baby in court! I think there might be a future lawyer in the making.

Oh yes, Josh cracks me up everyday. You are right, Mike, that is one great argument that Jeff should remember when he is in the courtroom. Such cute kids. I love them.

Why wasn't the mean big Bertha girl punished for trying to throw him in? I think we should think of a quiet, sly retaliation for him. The story is funny though. And no he is not average. I swear I have failed all of his "stupid tests" that he has given me. Sheesh.

Oh, Amy, I feel for ya. I am also entertained. . . how could I not be? And I'm so glad I have a cousin (several actually) to pave the way through the years of parenting. It makes me feel a little more normal knowing others have been there. I think he should have included, "because I just know they can't live without me." as one of his reasons to be let back in the classroom. Funny kid.

That is so funny, I don't know how I missed this post, but I am really glad I found it. He sounds like such a funny boy. How are the teachers not laughing?
