We had a great Halloween this year. Everyone got the costumes they wanted. Josh was a skeleton, Jake was a werewolf, Lucy was Dorothy and Sam was her Cowardly Lion. The only bad part was that Lucy got the stomach flu the day of the big Droubay Family Halloween Party and we had to miss out.

Lucy started throwing up early Friday morning. She had been counting down the days to when she could wear her costume to school and be in the Halloween parade. I heard her in the bathroom saying a prayer between retches that she would feel better in time for Halloween. It broke my heart.

I had to use some major distraction and bribery to get Sam in this costume. He wasn't too thrilled.
Our neighborhood does trunk-or-treating. I think it's a pretty big bummer and so did J. Here he is pouting in the trunk of our car. I had to take them to a different neighborhood afterwards to do some real trick or treating.

The best we could do of all the kids together.
Sam did NOT like this balloon tied to him. He kept saying "stuck, stuck" and crying.

That is so cute of Sam and the balloon. I can't believe I missed a whole post of yours. All the kids costumes were so great. I hope everyone had a fun Halloween.

Sam looks so stinkin' cute! He is looking more and more like Jeff to me. Fun costumes! Your kids all look darling - or should I say scary!? Poor Lucy - that is NOT the time to get sick! I'm glad she recovered in time for some of the fun. You look beautiful Amy!

I love Sam standing in his costume, it looks like he wants to say "what mom, really?" hillarious!

Your kids are really so cute.

Love the costumes. I love how when the boys get older their costumes get scarier and scarier. My heart broke when I read that about Lucy and her prayer. Meg would have been the same way. I'm with Jake on trunk-or-treating. It just isn't how it's supposed to be. Trick-or-treating is meant to be ringing doorbells and running from house to house. Sorry...needed to vent.

I love the costumes! Your kids are adorable! I am sorry Lucy got sick. It's always a bummer to get sick, but especially on holidays!

I am with you and Jake on the Trunk or Treat! It's more fun to go door to door. Some people argue it's safer to trunk or treat. I disagree- You go to your neighbors and you know them! I know many people whose neighbor's due Trunk or Treat and they don't like it. I think it's sad that a few people change it for the whole neighborhood!
